Kedarnath – Place of Mahadev. Har Har Mahadev. I think every Indian knows this place. I don’t have to explain more about this place. But in a word, this is heaven on the earth.
I’ve visited Kedarnath as a part of Char Dham Yatra ( visit of 4 sacred places in Uttarakhand ). It was a 3rd destination out of 4. I will write another blog for the whole Char Dham Yatra.
Today I am very happy and proud of myself.
- Happy, because I’ve visited Kedarnath Temple
- Proud, because I had the privilege to visit twice in this Yatra.
Reaching Kedarnath is easy as you can reach there in 10 mins by helicopter and as hard as by trekking 22 kms ( official 16 kms ).
I chose the hard one as usual ;). My life choices are hard. I could go by Helicopter, but that won’t satisfy my soul. You know if you get things easily, you won’t value them.
Now Kedarnath is special for me as it is one of the Jyotirlingas. And I am in a hunch of visiting 12 Jyotirlingas. This was my 9th.
Being Mahaedv’s fan ( bhakt, whatever we call it ), it was a very important destination for me. It is probably the toughest destination I’ve ever visited.
I’ve trekked 22 kms to reach there. In this trek, you will know/experience the following
- Your patience level ( The most important aspect )
- Your way of living
- You will know who your best people
- The best water you will drink
- The respect you have for nature
- How atual Mahadev Bhakt you are
- The respect you have for others or animals
Why did I go to Char Dham?
It was God’s Plan.
First, I didn’t think of going to this Yatra. It was my Mother and Masi ( Mother’s sister ). But my Father was not going so I decided to go with my Mother. And also my cousin was also going so I agreed to go with them.
So it was like yeah I went with my Mom and I call that God’s plan.
Here is a photo of us who went to Char Dham ( from left Me ( always with an animal), elder Masi, Mummy, Masi, Brother )

The Trek
So there were 3 of us who were going to trek. Me ( Green Jacket ), my Brother & My Masi

We reached So we started early morning at 2:30 am from Gauri Kund. We reached Gaurikund at around 5 pm. Then we did Snan ( Holy Bath ) and then we did some rest.
My mother and another Masi were goign by Palkhi so they didn’t join us. So they were about to start their journey at 5 am morning. And as we were treking we started early. Plan was not to hurry, no over efforts. Just keep it slow and stady.
So we started treking and it was very chilled, so it helped in treking a lot. We were mentally prepared. We already did Yamunotri trek 4-5 days ago. It was around 11kms one way. And Kedarnath is 22 kms.
To be continued….
